Uganda’s hopes for a medal in the 3000m steeplechase rested on the shoulders of Jacob Araptany.
After the three heats, Jacob actually had the second-best time going into the final, but that was all for naught after the Ugandan was eliminated from the race after faceplanting into a barrier:

Yeah… that’s probably the worst way to lose out on a medal opportunity.
Jacob competed in the same event in the 2012 Olympics but didn’t qualify for the final.
