Joey Chestnut Stays Hot, Wins Hooters Wing Eating Championship

After destroying 70 hot dogs on July 4th, Joey Chestnut was back in action Monday night for Hooters’ Wing Eating Championship in Las Vegas.
Chestnut lost the title to Matt Stonie last year, but kept his momentum going from hot dogs to chicken in a ridiculous 194 wing-eating exhibition. Stonie, who won last year with 241 wings, finished second to Chestnut with a valiant 186 wings eaten.

Was the short turnaround difficult for the champion? You bet (via RestaurantNews.com):

“It feels great to be back at the top of the Hooters Worldwide Wing Eating Championship, it’s one of my favorite contests of the year. It was a little bit tough coming here right after the 4th of July, but it’s great to show that [that win] wasn’t a fluke and I was able to follow it up with a win at Hooters,” said Chestnut. “This contest is just so fun, and I’m so happy to be here.”
