Who would’ve thought there were some passionate MLS fans to the point where they are on the verge of fighting in the streets of New York? I know earlier this week Joe pissed off a bunch of MLS fans for making fun of Servando Carrasco for wearing a sports bra under his jersey, but I figured it was just small group of die-hards that were mad.
Nope, apparently this New York Red Bulls and New York City FC rivalry is real. Like cops needed to separate these two groups of fans before an all out brawl ensued. These teams play later tonight and Garry Hayes, a soccer writer from England, caught some videos of the fan bases clashing.
The first one looks like something out of Green Street Hooligans with the two rival gangs rolling up on each other.
Red Bulls fans arrived and then it got nasty. Feels like England in the 80s… pic.twitter.com/VJIKyDYlC3

The cops were able to keep them apart, but not before a bunch of shit was thrown back and forth. In the second video, we actually come close to seeing a fight, but I guess MLS fans haven’t gotten quite to that level yet.
Here's another video from the earlier clashes with NYCFC and NYRB fans outside Yankee Stadium… pic.twitter.com/NTfWPuyiWt

Keep in mind NYCFC has only been around since 2015, so this isn’t like some long standing rivalry. I appreciate the passion though right out of the gate.
At the NYCFC vs NYRB game today where home fans are spitting on and ripping up NYRB flags. Cars driving over them… pic.twitter.com/kQOHkm33Lz
