Are you a South Carolina booster who pays big money for your seats to seven football games at Williams-Brice Stadium, including one worthless game against The Citadel? Or are you just some random fan with season tickets? The South Carolina Athletic Department, with revenues of $98,619,479 and total expenses of $95,762,786, would like to talk to you about spending a little more with its sports franchise.
In a letter emailed from Dodie Anderson, a booster who helped pay for a $13 million, 40,500 sq. ft. “academic center” for South Carolina athletes, donors like @FishTaco_SC are being asked if they could spare at least $500 to cover books for an athlete – for one semester.
If you’re feeling extra nice, the athletic department will take $1,000 to pay for extra meals and additional supplements. And if you’re feeling like going for the total package, you can pay for an athlete to go to school for a semester. That would be nice of you considering the school spent $31,918,772 on coaches during the 2012-13 school year.

But how could you possibly turn down a sweet grandmother like Dodi? You know a sports franchise in the SEC can’t compete unless they get more money. The school is only expected to get $5 million from the SEC Network this summer.

Don’t be. It’s college athletics.
