Reggie White passed away in 2004, but there are still pieces of his life that have never been sold off like the 13,500 sq. ft. house on Lake Norman, North Carolina that his widow, Sara, still owns. The couple bought the house in 1999 for $316k. It’s now valued at near $2 million. Then there’s Reggie’s 1999 Mercedes-Benz CL 600. He paid $125,000 for this beast and it still only has 46,000 miles on the odometer.
It’s now up for sale through a sports memorabilia auction house for $35,000.
From the seller, Worthridge:
Reggie personalized his CL with tasteful Packer green and yellow pinstripes down the sleek lines of his pride and joy with his initials (RW) featured above each door handle.
The interior of the CL offers all you would expect from a top-of-the-line German automobile- heated power leather seats, power heated mirrors, leather and wood trim, cruise control, air-conditioning, automatic climate control, and Bose audio are only a few highlights of the, even by today’s standards, state of the art features on this magnificent Mercedes.
How exclusive was this car in 1999? Edmunds.com wrote this: This is it. This is the most expensive passenger car currently built by Mercedes-Benz, and for that matter it’s one of the world’s most expensive means of common transportation. In a word, the CL600 can be described as, “Wow.” V12 power, Bose stereo system, leather headliner, antilock brakes, stability control, smart airbags, a rain sensor, sonar bumpers, xenon headlamps and wood trim. But is the CL600 worth the money? Only if you don’t know what money is.
And it was Reggie White’s car. There has to be some value in that for a collector.
