I remember the day in December 2012 when I broke the news that Chipper Jones was dating Playboy model Taylor Higgins, who went by Lexi Ray as a nude model name. It was a perfect storm scenario. Chip’s MLB career had just ended and he was starting his retirement life — at 40 — like many of us would die for. He made $168,552,133 during his MLB career (yes, there were a couple of divorces that chewed up some of that money) and had a Playboy model jetting off to parties with him.
Now Chip and Taylor are getting married June 15 in Texas.
And they have a wedding registry. And I bought them a gift, because this is what we do around here. We roll along with these sports couples through the good times and then they get a wedding gift. It’s the least we can do. I know, I know…I said in November that I wasn’t buying them a gift because I wanted to make sure Chip didn’t back out. He’s still all in.
Chip and Tay Tay are registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond and Crate and Barrel. You know the rules: either buy a sharp object or the best least expensive item I can find. There were no sharp objects so I went with a deer antler placemat. Seemed appropriate.
I really hope these two work out. They’re pretty fun, always posting pics on social media and don’t mind sharing crazy thoughts/photos here and there. Chip is one of the last guys who made a ton of money, but doesn’t act like he has to go into hiding. You get to see what he’s blowing his money on. You get to see that he uses private jets to move around his cats and deer mounts.
And now he has a Playboy model to spend the rest of his life with. She drinks Bud Light, hunts, used to be a University of Kentucky cheerleader and seems to have giant implants. The guy is just living the life right now.
