How King Kong Bundy Splashing Hulk Hogan In 1986 Became Legit Local News In Milwaukee

There it is in the Milwaukee Sentinel local news section on March 12, 1986: “Hulk Hogan’s image, escapades wrestle reality to the mat.” This was a real story about Hulk Hogan’s escapades as told by a man who was working as an ambulance driver during a Phoenix WWF event.
Remember, this is 1986. People still didn’t realize that wrestling was scripted so they had no idea what was going on when Hogan was smashed by King Kong Bundy and left unconscious by the bag of blubber. Hogan is unconscious and needs to go to the hospital.
One thing led to another and an ambulance was needed to transport Hogan to the hospital. The ambulance driver is told to take Hogan to an odd hospital that wasn’t the normal destination with people injured at the Veterans Coliseum. All of this was scripted, but the ambulance driver had no idea he was part of the script. Eventually there would be a scene in the hospital where nurses would find $1k in Hogan’s boot.

Just read all of this during lunch. It’ll take you back to a better time when Mr. T could block an emergency driveway because it was all for a WWF recording.
Again, the Milwaukee Sentinel treated this as a news story. Wrestlemania I took place a year before this went down in Phoenix.
