For the most part, it was a pretty good night of basketball for the Villanova Wildcats. They improved their record to a stellar 24-2 after defeating Seton Hall by 26 points, plus junior guard Ryan Arcidiacono surpassed the 1,000 career points milestone!
Unfortunately, no one cares about that trivia thanks to Seton Hall’s Sterling Gibbs. As you can see in the video above, Gibbs unloaded a nasty forearm to the face of Arcidiacono during a scrum around the 4:39 mark of the second half with Seton Hall down 45-71 . Gibbs was assessed a flagrant 2 and tossed from the game. (You know, standard protocol after one player blasts another in the face.)
According to Adam Zagoria, the Big East will review the tape:
I’m guessing Gibbs will probably be suspended for the year, which is a huge downer for him. He’s averaging close to 17 points on the season and stroking it from three-point range at a 45 percent clip.
Update: Gibbs apologized to Arcidiacono on Twitter.
