Justin Verlander is joking, right? He’s just busting Uber’s balls with this IG post? Tell me this is just a big joke and I’m about to waste time turning this into a post. Someone from Lyft please email me and confirm that Verlander was paid for this IG: mail@bustedcoverage.com.
OK, so I’ll pretend Verlander was serious:
• Justin Verlander’s 2014 base salary was $20,000,000
• Justin Verlander has made $86,515,000 in base salary since making his MLB debut
• Justin Verlander just got back from a European vacation (Venice was one stop) with Kate Upton
• Justin Verlander flies on a private jet
• Justin Verlander bought a $381,000 Aventador Roadster earlier this year
• Justin Verlander also owns a Ferrari 458 Italia, a Maserati Gran Turismo, a Mercedes-Benz SL55, an Aston Martin DBS and a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
• Justin Verlander will make $140,000,000 over the next six years…GUARANTEED
So, with all that laid out on the table, it’s easy to see how douchey it seems for a guy to bitch about Uber raising surcharges. It’s ironic that JV would have a problem with surcharges since that’s the way he’s able to make $28,000,000 a year throwing a baseball – SURCHARGES, BRO.
On beer. On tickets. On your cable bill. The cost to attend a Tigers game in 2014 was 12.4% higher than 2013. SURCHARGES, BRO. The average ticket price to catch a Tigers game was $28 in 2014. Meanwhile, we have this guy worrying about Uber overcharging.
I’m still laughing.
