Never heard of Madison Edens? Join the crowd.
The date was May 20, 2014 when the Internet discovered Mallory Edens, daughter of Milwaukee Bucks owner Wesley Edens.
The then-high school student showed up on ESPN as the team representative of the Bucks in the NBA Draft Lottery. She ended up walking away from the event with far more than she imagined— the No. 2 overall pick (Jabari Parker) and the hearts of basketball nerds everywhere. Of course, being the queen of the basketball nerds resulted in thousands of middle-aged men following her on Twitter.
“The Cavs won the lottery, Mallory Edens won the Internet,” said Grantland’s Bill Simmons.
From that day forward, we all became enamored with Mallory and her dual Bucks-Knicks fandom. But what we didn’t know until now is that she also has a stunning older sister named Madison.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Wesley chose Mallory to be the face of the franchise over Madison and another sibling:
Wesley could have chosen one of his other three children, but ultimately settled on Mallory. Madison, Mallory’s older sister who was watching from the front row with her father, was OK with not being on stage.
Madison played the whole thing down:
“She’s definitely the more photogenic one, so I was happy to give it to her. I could not be up there. She was amazing. … What a great way to start.”
I disagree with this sentiment wholeheartedly and propose that if the Bucks are in the 2015 NBA Lottery, Madison gets her time to shine. Until then, give her the same social media love you gave Mallory.
