David Akers’ NFL career is over so it seems to make sense that now is the time to dump the toys you have sitting around the house. First toy up is a 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby Cobra that is currently up for auction on eBay. This isn’t an ordinary Shelby. This is a 40th anniversary edition that Carroll Shelby Motorsports gave to Akers. According to the listing Shelby decides where the top 25 cars go.
It has everything from the 40th anniversary package/Vinyl racing stripes were peeled painted and buried. Exhaust was amped to an X type exhaust with hand modified single piece stainless steel 3 pipe with 4 tips. (You will never hear any car sound better. She loves to breath) This car has been babied and there are $6000 worth of upgrades done by David Akers himself. After 17 years in the NFL he”s been to 6 pro bowls, he”s a 2x NFC champion, and he”s a man of integrity. He has signed a football, and custom shoe, and a picture for the next owner. This stang needs a new home!!
I’m not sure the signed football, shoe and photos add any value here. Would someone actually purchase a car because it was owned by a kicker? I suppose anything is possible these days when collectors have all sorts of extra cash laying around. Just don’t overbid — Akers’ autographed memorabilia is pretty cheap.
Akers’ history with Mustangs can be traced back to 2008 when a restorer billed David $1,700 for a radar detector.
