Wrigley Field Renovations Start — Left Field Bleachers Being Ripped Out


Remember the left field Wrigley Field bleachers? Yeah, well they’re being torn out today as part of the Wrigley renovations that Tom Ricketts has been boasting about for the last year or so. This isn’t a small project. We’re talking about a $575 million renovation that, as the Chicago Tribune reports, will include the construction of a hotel. This isn’t a one winter kind of renovation.


Ripping out the bleachers for video boards is just the first step.

The days without a video board are over. The days of the parking lot on the third base side are over. That’s where a hotel is going (Tribune has photos — see the slideshow). The area where McDonald’s is located will be history, too. Here’s what left field will look like by the start of next season:
