Chiefs LB Joe Mays Is Selling His Incredible Colorado Mansion — Just $2 Million

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Joe Mays has had a quiet, yet successful NFL career, but I had no idea the guy has been paid enough to own a massive 11,000 sq. ft. Colorado mansion with views of Pikes Peak and one of the largest entertainment rooms you’ll ever see in Athlete Real Estate. Now Joe is selling the Franktown, CO pad that features 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms for $1,999,900. Let’s just call it $2 million. To me this would be a forever house until the local sheriff came to evict me. Not Mays. He’s moving on.
The 29-year-old was a 6th round pick of the Eagles in 2008 (no money). He eventually landed in Denver for a three-year stint. Left for Houston in 2013 and signed a two-year deal worth $6 million with K.C. in March. With incentives, the guy could make $4 million a year. Ehhh, that’s still not f-you money where you heat and cool an 11k sq. ft. mansion. I can’t really blame Mays for dumping this massive place. It was fun while it lasted.
*Joe paid $950,000 for the place in 2012. It was a foreclosure. Very, very smart move. He’s looking at a 111% return on his investment.
According to his realtor:

Upon arrival, you are welcomed by the sounds of a babbling brook, encircled by a teardrop drive, and bounded by two architecturally attractive residences nestled in the pines., one a true Colorado inspired custom home built by the developer of the community on his choice of a 4.5 acre site with a most picturesque setting, high on a hill, showcasing Pikes Peak … the other, a Guest Home, encompassed by an hugely impressive Family Fun Centre, thoughtfully designed and custom created by the present owners.Everyone loves to be in the kitchen with the cook! MAIN RESIDENCE: Welcome to a chef’s dream featuring top-of-the line appliances including a Liebherr refrigerator (with it’s own wine chiller), a Sharp microwave, a Fisher & Paykel 2 drawer dishwasher (all of which are stainless)… plus a second dishwasher with custom front cabinetry and a Blue Star, 6-burner gas range/oven! Main floor master bedroom, romantic fireplace, plus a private deck to share and enjoy the views of mountain grandeur.

Nice, right? I wouldn’t have enough friends to fill the party room (see below).

Other Highlights of Joe Mays Massive Estate:

• The place has two theaters to watch college football (I’d never go to a bar — EVER)
• Um, the kids play room is like taking your kids to a Chick-fil-A play room & letting them go nuts
• 15-foot ceilings in the party room?
41 minutes to Whole Foods
39 minutes to Centerfold Show Club
Mortgage: Don’t bother wondering…you can’t pay the heating costs or the taxes
