Jon Runyan Selling House With Best Athlete Bar I’ve Ever Seen — $5.8 Million

I’ve probably posted 200 or so athlete homes over the years and it’s rare for a bar to stand out in one of these houses. When you see a great one, you know it’s great because you instantly want to get smashed in that athlete’s bar. Jon Runyan has one of those bars in the 13,418 sq. ft. Mount Laurel, New Jersey house he’s trying to sell for $5.8 million. You know the deal with most of these athlete bars — basement…four or five seats….one, maybe two TVs…couple memorabilia items and that’s it. Not at Runyan’s house. I see full blown classy neighborhood joint where all your rich neighbors want to hang out for the games.

That leads me to wonder why Runyan would ever sell. Maybe he figures money might get tight after leaving Congress at the end of this year. Maybe he’s tired of the bar, the resort-style pool and all the extra space in this monster mansion. Maybe it’s just time to downsize from an 8-person bar to one of those 4-5 seaters that most athletes have.

According to his realtor:

7 years young, this grand and luxurious estate, flows with comfort and coziness. The 23 Acre French chateau, built with Peruvian Travertine, limestone cast stone and custom ironwork. Designed by famed architects David Donachy and Christopher Caulder. Zoned radiant heat, 5 master suites, 7 full and 2 half baths. 2 Master Chef’s kitchens, inside and outside of the home. Game room dressed in timber, courtyards, outdoor fireplace and fire pits. 3 at home offices, and raised panel library for the little ones, and music room. Enjoy the pool views from the hatched roof Tiki hut, bar or veranda. 7 car garage. 2 additional guest suites

Look, if I had a massive pile of f-you money and was going to build a house, I’d tell the architect to build something similar to what’s going on with this bar. I want at least six 60-inch LEDs, 2-3 keg taps, video poker machines built into the bar and a classy Twitter board where I can stream TweetDeck and watch games. One day it’ll happen.

Other Highlights Of Jon’s Massive Pile Of Awesome:

• Did you see all the granite in the kitchen? A woman’s wet kitchen dream

• 4-car garage

• Very classy pool area where you could have like 50 strippers just going nuts

8 minutes from Whole Foods

22 minutes from the Penthouse Club

Mortgage: You’re looking at $22,685 before NJ property taxes, maid service, a bartender and someone to cut the grass.
