Bama-Ole Miss
By the time you read this I’ll be on the road to Oxford, Miss. for the Bama game. It’s about a 9-hour drive from Ohio into the heart of SEC country, which starts as soon as you enter Nashville. I’ll wave to Clay Travis, head southwest on I-40 and hope we don’t get shot in Memphis. Then it’s on to the second-best casino town in America — the lovely Tunica. If you’ve never been to Tunica, make sure you only visit when there’s a big college football game at Ole Miss. I can’t imagine the place is any fun when it’s just old people waiting to die and for a hot penny machine.
More Mississippi
I’ve seen shithole parts of Alaska where people live around scrap yards full of shit. I’ve spent many days and nights passing through some of the shittiest parts of America on the streets of Detroit. I’ve been through the south side of Chicago by accident when my dad thought he would take a shortcut to Lake Shore Drive. I’ve driven through the scary parts of Baltimore and Philadelphia. I’ve been on the road to Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa. There might not be a scarier place in the U.S. than rural Mississippi. Driving through theĀ state is an experience you’ll never forget. You’ll go 70 miles without seeing a soul besides some redneck in a piece of junk jacked up truck off I-55. Then you pull into Oxford and you’ve never seen so many rich Southern white people in your life. It’s an incredible scene.
