This all went down over the weekend at some California autograph signing event where Barry just happened to run into Kevin Mitchell. Remember Mitch? Of course you do. The guy was only the most dangerous hitter in 1989 for the San Francisco Giants (blasting 47 dongs & winning the N.L. MVP) and a guy with a 1986 World Series ring.
It’s not hard to understand why Barry went nuts when he saw Mitch, 52, at the card show. The guy has been out of baseball since 1998 when he was diagnosed with diabetes and he pretty much disappeared.
Have you noticed something? Suddenly Barry Bonds is all over the place. The guy started Twitter and Instagram accounts and suddenly he’s a media machine. Is this the start of a rebranding of Barry as a decent guy who isn’t as evil as he seemed all those years he was cheating his way to home run records?
Going nuts hugging Kevin Mitchell seems a little forced.
