Josh Hamilton was a free agent bust for the Los Angeles Angels in 2013. After signing a 5-year, $133 million deal, Hamilton promptly went out and posted career lows in batting average (.250) and on-base percentage (.307), while his HR total fell from 43 to 21.
Perhaps trying to remedy his poor performance, Hamliton has gained 28 pounds this off-season through heavier lifting. He was at Eastside Christian Church in Anaheim (along with former NBA player A.C. Green) this past Sunday.
Hamilton’s chest looks thicker. That top button on his plaid shirt is screaming. (Meanwhile, AC’s half-zip sweater game is so middle-aged guy it hurts. This is how you stay a virgin into your 30s, kids.)
The next time you’ll likely see Hamilton is when the Angels position players report to spring training in Tempe, Ariz. on Feb. 18.
