The Jon Jones arrest video from September 2021 has surfaced and it is as wild as was initially described.
The Las Vegas Review Journal obtained bodycam footage from the arrest which shows the former UFC champion hurling insults at police officers, headbutting the squad car, and making troubling comments asking the police to hurt him.
Jones was arrested in Las Vegas shortly after being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame for his epic title fight against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165.
“Humiliating me [on] my Hall of Fame night,” Jones is heard saying on the video. “You f*cking nerd. I hate you. I hate you! I hate you! You f*cking nerd. I hate you so much. Say your name publicly. … You turned me in my Hall of Fame night, just because I’m big and Black. And what did I do? …. I came from my Hall of Fame ceremony, and I’m Black, and I did nothing to you.”
Jones’ comments then took a darker turn.
“Bro, hang me. Hurt me and kill me,” Jones said. “What did I do?” A Black man can’t drink? Getting elected into the Hall of Fame, and this is what I’ve got?”
Jones was arrested after a domestic disturbance call from Caesar’s Palace which was made after hotel security noticed Jones’ fiancee Jesse Moses bleeding from her nose and mouth. She said Jones was “a little physical” with her in front of their children before the arrest.
After the incident, Jones said “I have way too much trauma to consume alcohol, my brain simply can’t handle it anymore. I will leave alcohol in my past forever.”
The former UFC light heavyweight champion has not fought since February 2020. He has been preparing for a return to the UFC at heavyweight, though no specific timeline has been reported at this time.
