Canelo Alvarez returns to action this weekend against Turkey’s Avni Yildirim as he defends his WBA and WBC super-middleweight championships at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Alvarez (54-1-2, 36 KOs) will be aiming to add another knockout to his resume on Saturday night, but the 29-year-old Yildirim (21-2, 12 KOs) will be hoping to shock the world.
“I hope so, I hope it’s a knockout because people really enjoy watching knockouts but I’m ready for whatever,” the Mexican superstar said in his promotion leading up to the fight.
“He’s a strong fighter. He’s fierce. He’s always there, pressuring. At any moment, he’s dangerous. That’s what we thought with Callum Smith but the truth is, I’m in my best moment and I find it really difficult to see someone giving me problems.”
Entering Saturday night’s pay-per-view, Canelo is an overwhelming -4000 favorite while Yildirim checks in as a +1500 underdog.
