What kind of world is sports blogging? It’s a scumbag world filled with guys like this

Did you read the Yahoo Finance story yesterday on the Cauldron and Chat Sports? About how Jamie O’Grady from the Cauldron would’ve sold his site to anyone for $1.8 million so fast your head would spin. It’s an inside-baseball story about the sports blogging business world, how desperate some are to sell sites and what happens when you don’t have a legitimate following and the walls start crumbling. It’s also a story about how these businesses are propped up by investor money and the constant need for more investor money because they’ve run through the other money and don’t make enough to pay the bills. Here’s something I’m proud of with BC. I never took a single dollar of investor money before selling BC in 2011. Never had to beg someone to prop up BC. Never had to beg someone to buy BC. I was just mind my own business. Reading how desperate these guys are to raise money and sell is hilarious and depressing. That kind of desperation means you have nothing. Meanwhile, here is BC just continuing to churn along as one of the last independent blogs out there. Little to no overhead. Just continuing to do what I started way back in 2007 when the goal was to entertain you maniacs who hated your jobs and wanted an escape from life.
