As is customary with Jim Harbaugh, he had to go and be a jerkoff again tonight on Twitter where he fights for the Michigan brand and tries to reenergize a program with gimmicks like sleeping at a recruits house, having a signing day party for already entitled 5-stars and now taking a shot at Ohio State AD Gene Smith for his comments about taking Ohio State to Florida for spring practices, like Harbaugh just did a couple weeks ago.
Here’s what Gene Smith said to media today:
“We’re talking about spring practice. What’s my man’s name? Allen Iverson? We’re talking about practice, man,” Smith said. “So the reality is I wouldn’t do that, I wouldn’t support taking that time away from our student-athletes.
“Is it creative? Does it help from a recruiting and marketing point of view? I get that,” Smith said. “If we were jumpstarting our program I’d probably try and do that, too. But we’re not jumpstarting our program. We’re in a different place.”
And what have Michigan fans been running their mouths about for the last three months while Harbaugh’s tried every trick in the book to Trump-ify his program with free publicity? The fans have been gloating that Jim has reenergized the program and that this is what was needed to get Michigan back in the national conversation.
Eleven Warriors pointed out something very important tonight. Michigan is just a couple years removed from offering FREE tickets to fans who bought Coke products. Let’s go back to that story that turned the Wolverines into a laughingstock on Twitter.
For a while Monday, Michigan fans received two tickets to Saturday’s game against Minnesota simply by purchasing a couple of bottles of Coca-Cola, according to a UM spokesman.
The two tickets, with a total face value of $150, could be obtained by purchasing two Coca-Cola products for $3.
The promotion was immediately pulled Monday night when Michigan officials found out about it. Several individuals had posted about the promotion on Twitter.
A few months later Brady Hoke was fired, AD Dave Brandon resigned and the program was desperate. Harbaugh’s brought in, the fans think he’s going to whip Ohio State, the Wolverines get throttled and Jim begins his first real offseason where he can sleep at recruit’s houses.
Nothing Smith said was wrong or some sort of evil swipe at Harbaugh. Off course the jerkoff thought so and his push to keep jumpstarting the Wolverines continues.
