Once a degenerate, always a degenerate I guess. Pete just can’t live life without a little action on some games. He probably laid down some of that extra autograph signing money on a few horses, because there’s no chance he was betting afternoon baseball. Although, you can’t put it past him. It might not be the best timing in the world to be spotted in a sports book though, when the Commissioner just came out and said they will have a decision whether to reinstate you by the end of the year.
All jokes aside, I really hope this doesn’t have any affect on Manfred’s decision. There’s absolutely zero reason Pete Rose shouldn’t be reinstated and in the Hall Of Fame. 4,256 hits is INSANE and I’m pretty sure I won’t see anyone break that in my lifetime. That alone should get him in no matter what he did off the field. And the fact that it was gambling? Ridiculous. We had guys who pumped gallons of anabolic steroids directly into their asses who, while most likely won’t make the Hall, are still a part of the MLB with their shriveled nuts and all.
It should be about what he did on the field, and what he did on the field is deserving of a much overdue Hall Of Fame induction.
