India doesn’t seem like a luging hotbed, does it? Well, there is a luge scene in India, and one of its athletes just produced the coolest sports moment of the 2014 Winter Olympics thus far (above). Full video here.
During a training run on Friday morning in Sochi, Indian luger Shiva Keshavan (@100thofasec) flipped off his sled and onto his stomach while going around a turn. Acting like he totally meant to do that, Keshavan flipped back on to the sled and finished the run, all at nearly 60 miles per hour.
ESPN X-Games producers are probably turgid with delight because Keshavan just gave them an idea for a new event; freestyle luge. They better invest in bigger helmets.
The opening ceremonies of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi are Friday night (7:30 p.m. ET on NBC).
