Rams HC Sean McVay Welcomes Son Christian

The McVay family roster just got deeper. Rams head coach Sean McVay and his wife Veronika welcomed their second child – a baby boy named Christian Alexander McVay – just hours after the team clinched a playoff spot.

The Rams broke the news on social media Tuesday with a playful post formatted like a team transaction announcement.

Talk about perfect timing. Christian arrived Monday morning, giving McVay an unforgettable 24 hours that started with punching a playoff ticket and ended with cradling his newborn son.

“What a crazy week to be playing on Thursday,” McVay told reporters, referencing the upcoming divisional showdown with Seattle on “Thursday Night Football.”

Sleep? That’s apparently optional for the Rams’ head coach right now.

When asked if he’d gotten any rest since Sunday’s victory, McVay didn’t hesitate: “Not really.”

“This is a good challenge,” he admitted. “But it’s a blessing to be able to play in meaningful games this late in the season. And so I’ve got a lot of appreciation for our staff. And fighting a good fight right now.”

The Rams’ compressed week means McVay is juggling game preparations with new-dad duties as they prepare to face their NFC West rivals. The short turnaround gives McVay and his coaching staff less than 72 hours to finalize their gameplan while dealing with the joyful family addition.

Christian joins big brother Jordan in the McVay household. Sean and Veronika, who tied the knot in 2022, welcomed their first son in 2023.

The Seahawks matchup on Thursday could have major playoff seeding implications for the Rams, who are looking to improve their position in the NFC standings with a victory.
