The Giants’ quarterback situation remains a key focus heading into the 2025 offseason, with speculation growing about potential moves at the position. While the team holds the third overall pick in April’s draft, some intriguing veteran options are emerging in the trade market.
Recent reports have linked the Giants to both Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp of the Los Angeles Rams — a connection strengthened by New York’s hiring of Chad Hall, Stafford’s brother-in-law, as assistant quarterbacks coach.
The Athletic’s Jacob Robinson and Diana Russini report that while landing both players is unlikely, it’s not entirely out of the question.
Kupp’s future with the Rams appears particularly uncertain. The 32-year-old receiver will likely be moved before March 19, when his $7.5 million roster bonus comes due.
Stafford’s situation is more complex. The 37-year-old quarterback has shown he can still perform at a high level, and Rams head coach Sean McVay seems reluctant to let him go — even though the team hasn’t officially named him their 2025 starter.
The notion of pairing Stafford with Kupp and rookie standout Malik Nabers has Giants fans dreaming big. Nabers himself appears to be campaigning for the moves, posting cryptic messages on X featuring the numbers 9 and 10 along with a ram emoji.
“I’d love to have them in the room,” Nabers said during Super Bowl week, speaking about the potential to learn from both veterans.

Despite the excitement, the cost of acquiring both players would likely be prohibitive. Any such deal would require an enormous package of draft picks and possibly players — potentially surpassing even recent blockbuster trades in other sports.
For now, Giants fans might need to temper their expectations. While the team clearly needs quarterback help, a more modest solution may be in order as they continue their rebuilding process.
