The New Orleans Saints decided to let Marshon Lattimore go, and now we might understand why. In a big game, he didn’t play well, and the Saints seem to have made a smart move by trading him away.
The trade brought in a lot for the Saints, indicating they knew something others didn’t. Lattimore struggled against the Philadelphia Eagles in a recent game.
Although he didn’t allow any touchdowns, two key plays went wrong. First, he allowed a 4th and five conversion, and then a long pass to AJ Brown set up a score for the Eagles. Later, Lattimore was flagged for pass interference in the end zone on DeVonta Smith, leading to another Eagles touchdown. His time with Washington hasn’t been impressive either.
Lattimore was supposed to strengthen the Commanders’ defense but ended up being ineffective. The team even traded Emmanuel Forbes after signing him.
He only played five games post-trade, and while not expected to be perfect, the Commanders didn’t foresee him being a weak link.
The Washington Commanders have to address their secondary as Philadelphia torches their defense.
Former NFL player Ryan Clark commented on Lattimore’s poor performance, suggesting he should have been benched. Since joining Washington, Lattimore has been penalized six times, costing the team 96 yards and 20 points.
In five games with Washington, Marshon Lattimore has totaled six penalties for a loss of 96 yards, which helped set up 20 points for opponents.

This is concerning for a player who had a solid career before. This season, however, he failed to record an interception, marking a first in his career.
His availability was another issue; he played only nine regular-season games between two teams. Lattimore was expected to fix defensive issues but instead added to them.
To make matters worse, during the game, he got into a shoving match with Brown, resulting in an unsportsmanlike penalty. Another mistake in a season he’d likely want to forget.
