The New York Jets were supposed to have a great year and maybe win the Super Bowl. But, they lost a big game to the Miami Dolphins and now can’t make it to the playoffs. It’s kind of like when you plan a big party, but then it gets canceled.
It’s not really shocking.
For 14 seasons straight, the Jets haven’t made it to the playoffs, which is the longest streak in any major North American sports league. With nothing left to lose, Aaron Rodgers, the Jets’ quarterback, decided to put on a show. He wanted to make sure everyone noticed him and his stats.
In their recent win against the Jaguars, Rodgers threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns. Plus, he ran for 45 yards! That’s pretty impressive for someone who’s 41 years old. Speaking of age, he became the second-oldest player ever to lead his team in rushing yards during a game. OptaSTATS highlighted this feat, noting Tom Brady did something similar at 44.
Meanwhile, Davante Adams was catching almost everything thrown his way. Over half of Rodgers’ passes went to him. In the second half alone, Adams caught nine passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns. Wow! Talk about a late-game surge.

Rodgers is no stranger to accolades with four MVP awards and four first-team All-Pro selections in his two-decade career. Yet, despite all these personal achievements, he’s only got one Super Bowl ring to show for it.
Sadly, these accomplishments came too late for the Jets this season. Winning now just messes up their chances of getting a better pick in the next NFL Draft.
