Arch Manning is a young quarterback playing for the Texas Longhorns. People are really excited about him, even though he hasn’t started a full season yet. Some folks are already talking about him playing in the NFL someday.
His family, however, has been quick to squash any rumors of him skipping ahead to the pros. They made it clear there’s no plan for Arch to take over from the current starter, Quinn Ewers, even when Ewers got hurt this year.
Texas is doing great and will play in the SEC Championship Game. Regardless of the outcome, they’re heading to the College Football Playoff. Amidst all this excitement, Arch’s granddad, Archie Manning, is dreaming big for him. Archie mentioned in a casual chat at a restaurant that he’d love to see Arch play for the Dallas Cowboys in the future.

“If somebody asked me I’d say the Cowboys,” Archie chuckled, not realizing he might be on camera. He also hoped Arch would play three years at Texas, sticking to the family’s earlier comments about not rushing him to the NFL.
The idea of Arch playing for the Cowboys raises questions. Can his granddad really influence where he ends up? It’s a bit like Deion Sanders, who’s faced criticism for wanting to control where his son gets drafted.
But will Archie’s words cause a stir? Probably not, since Arch still has time to prove himself in college. It’s reminiscent of when Eli Manning was drafted by the Chargers but ended up with the Giants after a big trade.
There’s plenty of time left to speculate about Arch’s future NFL journey. Whether Archie’s comment was intentional or just a slip remains to be seen—but it’s sure to spark some interesting conversations.
