The New York Jets had a really tough day last Sunday. Aaron Rodgers, their star quarterback, couldn’t connect well with his teammates. Their defense also struggled to stop the other team, the New England Patriots. Because of this, they lost the game at the very last minute. Now, they’re in last place in their division with two wins and six losses. Everyone thought they might have a chance at the Super Bowl this year, but things aren’t looking good.
But wait, it gets even worse.
The NFL is full of surprises, and sometimes those surprises aren’t so nice. On Thursday night against the Houston Texans, it seemed like things might turn around for the Jets when Malachi Corley scored what appeared to be an early touchdown. But then, disaster struck. Corley dropped the ball before crossing the goal line, repeating a mistake that has haunted players for years—just like DeSean Jackson did way back in Dallas.
Originally, the play was called a touchdown on the field. However, upon reviewing the replay, it was clear Corley released the ball too soon. The Texans noticed this and quickly recovered the ball while the Jets were busy celebrating. This costly error not only nullified the score but also handed possession to Houston at their own 25-yard line.
To make matters even worse, this blunder came right after Aaron Rodgers missed his first four passes of the game. It’s a harsh reminder that no matter how bad things seem, there’s always room for them to get worse.
