Steelers One Trade from Surpassing Ravens in AFC North

The Pittsburgh Steelers started this football season with lots of questions. They changed their quarterbacks, bringing in a young player who was having a hard time and an older player who seemed to be nearing the end of his career. They also got a new coach named Arthur Smith and traded away one of their important players, Diontae Johnson. Many people thought they wouldn’t do well and might even end up last in their group.

Surprisingly, those predictions were way off. Russell Wilson and Coach Mike Tomlin have led the Steelers to a 6-2 record, putting them at the top of their division, the AFC North. Not only are they leading, but they also have the best point difference and have allowed the fewest points compared to others in their division.

Yet, many still see the Baltimore Ravens as the strongest team in the division. The Steelers haven’t faced the Ravens yet this season, making it hard to say who’s better. But there’s a thought that adding a new wide receiver could give Pittsburgh an edge over Baltimore as the season progresses.

The Steelers might just need one more wide receiver to boost their chances. In this new era with Russell Wilson as quarterback, that’s the upgrade they might consider. Wilson’s been doing great, throwing for 542 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions in the last two weeks alone.

Adding another wide receiver could make Coach Arthur Smith’s offensive strategies even more effective. In previous attempts, the Steelers tried to get big-name receivers like Davante Adams, Brandon Aiyuk, and Cooper Kupp but didn’t succeed. Now, they might look at players like Mike Williams from the New York Jets or Adam Thielen from the Carolina Panthers. Even Darius Slayton from the New York Giants could be a good addition.

Wilson’s current receivers have had their ups and downs. Calvin Austin dropped a crucial pass in Week 7, and Van Jefferson missed a touchdown due to a misunderstanding in Week 8. Still, they’ve shown potential with Jefferson catching six passes for 77 yards and a touchdown, while Austin has four catches for 90 yards and a touchdown.

But imagine how much stronger Pittsburgh would be if they added another talented receiver to Wilson’s lineup.
