Andy Reid’s Rashee Rice Injury Update Panics Chiefs Fans

The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t start well against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. They were losing 10-0 in the first quarter and also lost an important player to injury.

Wide receiver Rashee Rice got hurt while chasing down a pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He had to be taken off the field on a cart after trying to catch an interception along the sideline at Sofi Stadium.

Looking at the replay, it seems Mahomes accidentally hit Rice’s right leg, causing his knee to bend awkwardly. “It’s not good,” said Kansas City head coach Andy Reid when asked about Rice’s injury by CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson.

Despite this setback and the rough start, Kansas City has a knack for bouncing back with other players stepping up. Mahomes quickly threw a stunning 54-yard touchdown pass to rookie Xavier Worthy, cutting Los Angeles’ lead to 10-7.

Worthy, known for his speed, was picked 28th overall by Kansas City after they traded with the Buffalo Bills. In his rookie season, he had only seven catches before this game but made an immediate impact with a rushing touchdown in the season opener against Baltimore Ravens.

So maybe Kansas City fans should take a deep breath. You’re reigning Super Bowl champions for a reason, and unless things get much worse, there’s no need for major concern yet.

There’s always a chance that Rice could be out for the season, Travis Kelce might not return to form, and Worthy’s brilliance could fade. But let’s not dwell on that—it’s bad for your mental health.

UPDATE: Reports suggest that Rice may have torn his ACL and will undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the injury’s extent.
