Dak Prescott Responds to Jerry Jones on CeeDee Lamb Comments

The Dallas Cowboys didn’t do much in free agency after losing in the Wild Card Round last season. They also haven’t extended contracts for their key players.

This has frustrated fans.

Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons are all waiting for new deals. Lamb is even holding out because he wants his extension so badly. This holdout is causing a big distraction for the team. If Lamb doesn’t play in Week 1, it could really hurt the Cowboys since he’s one of the best receivers around. Everyone knows how important he is—except maybe Jerry Jones, who doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to get a deal done.

Lamb’s response to Jones’s lack of urgency? Just laughter. He knows Dallas is making a mistake by dragging this out. Prescott had something to say too, and it’s something all Cowboys fans can support.

Dak Prescott Sends Clear Message to Jerry Jones Amid CeeDee Lamb Contract Drama

After his press conference on Thursday, Prescott made his feelings clear: “I can tell you, I got a sense of urgency for it to happen,” he said jokingly but seriously via David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.

Prescott is talking about Lamb’s contract. He knows how crucial it is for the team’s success. Hopefully, Jones gets the message, but given how things have been going, that might be wishful thinking.

Lamb deserves big money after seeing other top wideouts get paid. The 25-year-old has been a Pro Bowler three times in four seasons and led the league with 135 receptions last year, amassing 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Prescott understands that for the Cowboys to win this season, Lamb must be part of the team. It’s really that simple. Plus, having an elite receiver like Lamb makes Prescott look better too—much better than relying on someone like Brandin Cooks as his main target.

It’s understandable not to pay Prescott $60 million annually since he’s not among the elite quarterbacks. However, paying top dollar for a top-three receiver like Lamb should be a no-brainer. His salary won’t come close to what quarterbacks earn, and he’s worth every penny.

There’s no benefit to dragging this out any longer. The Cowboys need to meet Lamb’s demands as there’s no real reason not to pay him. Maybe Prescott’s urgency will finally push things over the finish line.
