The Detroit Lions were so close to the big game. They were winning at halftime but then didn’t play well in the second half and lost. It was a big disappointment.

They’re determined to do better next time.

Detroit’s got a plan to turn things around. They’ve brought in some new players like Kevin Zeitler and DJ Reader. These guys are tough and good at football. The Lions want to win big, but they have to get past the San Francisco 49ers first. That’s the team they lost to before.

The 49ers tried to be sneaky. They wanted to take one of Detroit’s players, Brock Wright, by offering him a lot of money. But Detroit said, “No way!” They offered Wright the same deal to keep him. Ian Rapoport from NFL Network tweeted that the Lions matched a three-year deal worth $12 million. So, Wright is staying in Detroit.

Having a strong team isn’t just about the stars; it’s about having good players all around. Sam LaPorta is the main guy for catching passes at tight end, but Brock Wright is super important too. He’s the backup, and backups matter a lot.

Brock Wright might not catch a ton of passes, but he’s great at helping block for other players. He’s on the field a lot, even if you don’t see his name in the news much. That’s because he’s doing the tough work that helps the team.

The 49ers probably wanted Wright to do the same thing for them. They have a really good tight end named George Kittle, but he sometimes gets hurt. Wright would have been a good backup for them too.

But the Lions made sure Wright didn’t go to the 49ers. They can’t stop the 49ers from getting someone else, but at least they kept their own player.
