Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz feels he has “unfinished business” in the 205-pound division, and he was not shy about airing his grievances after UFC 295 over the weekend.
The Polish MMA star took to social media to rip new champion Alex Pereira, who knocked out Jiri Prochazka in the main event of Saturday’s pay-per-view, while also taking a shot at the judges who “stole my W” over Pereira at UFC 291 in July.
Blachowicz (29-10-1) had issues with Pereira calling out former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya after his win, and let the Brazilian titleholder have it.
“[Alex Pereira], I know you’re a slimy one. Calling out Izzy. Great performance and all but STFU, we have unfinished business you and I,” Blachowicz wrote on X. “The judges won’t give you handouts next time. Pathetic.”
This is LHW and that split decision means we have unfinished business here.
I’m just saying what I feel. Don’t blame me for it. Just letting you know this.
This is all from me. I’m going back to the gym. Got a new opponent and a job to do.— Jan Blachowicz (@JanBlachowicz) November 12, 2023
He continued, “People see me that I’m a nice guy all the time. But sometimes I get pissed off, like everyone in life. I’m still super angry that they stole my W against Pereira. Now he calls out Adesanya again. Give it a rest already. We’ve been there 4 times! This is [light heavyweight] and that split decision means we have unfinished business here.”
Blachowicz has not fought since his split-decision loss to Pereira over the summer and has not won since May 2022.
Pereira, meanwhile, is on a two-fight winning streak and now a two-division UFC champion. His only loss was to Adesanya at UFC 287 in April 2023, where he was knocked out in the second round to lose the middleweight title.
The future plans at light heavyweight remain to be seen, but Blachowicz, Adesanya, or Jamahal Hill, who vacated the title due to injury, all seem to be options.
