Could Deontay Wilder be open to a fight in mixed martial arts?
Well, if you listen to what former UFC champion Francis Ngannou has to say, there is potential that a fight could happen.
Ngannou, who sent shockwaves through the boxing world over the weekend after knocking down lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and pushing him to his limits before ultimately dropping a razor-thin split decision, appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani when he revealed the big of information.
“That is something that can potentially happen,” Ngannou said. “Deontay Wilder for a couple of months, for a little while now, has been training MMA… that’s something that makes sense.”

After seeing the success Ngannou had in the boxing ring, there have been calls for him to continue getting into the squared circle. A boxing match against Wilder would generate some buzz but in MMA? I don’t think nearly as much.
In boxing, you have to worry about the hands. In MMA, there is a lot more that can come your way, and unless you have been training for years in wrestling or clinching, it is a completely foreign discipline.
But, it will be something worth keeping an eye on.
As for what Ngannou sees in his immediate future, he’s hoping for a rematch with Fury in boxing. And after multiple professional fighters said they believe he won the fight, it’s something that needs to happen.
