Miami guard Haley Cavinder has announced her surprising return to college basketball.

Cavinder, who announced in April 2023 that she and her twin sister Hanna were retiring from basketball to pursue other opportunities off of the court, confirmed through her agent from Everett Sports Marketing that she plans to play during the 2024-25 season.

Haley has officially entered the transfer portal but is not completely closing the door on a potential return to Miami, according to ESPN.com.

Hanna, meanwhile, will not be returning to college basketball.

Hanna averaged 3.8 points per game off of the bench for Miami, and was ready to move on from basketball. After Haley’s announcement, Hanna used the twins’ TikTok account to poke fun at her statline.

Haley earned second-team All-ACC honors last season and helped lead the Hurricanes to their first-ever Elite Eight appearance. She averaged 12.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

The Cavinder twins are wildly popular on social media and were able to use their TikTok success to receive outside opportunities. One of the opportunities is with WWE, and the twins will spend the next year training at the WWE Performance Center as part of their NIL deals with the promotion.

Prior to joining Miami, Haley and Hanna spent three seasons at Fresno State.
