Boxing star Deontay Wilder was arrested and booked in Los Angeles on Tuesday, according to a report from TMZ Sports.
Wilder was pulled over for illegally tinted windows when police searched his vehicle. According to the report, police smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and conducted a search where a gun and marijuana were found.
Wilder was booked on a charge of possession of a concealed weapon.
After his arrest, Wilder appeared to address the situation with a brief statement on Twitter.
“I’d rather be safe than sorry. The End,” Wilder wrote.

Wilder was bonded out at 6:34 a.m.
The 37-year-old Wilder holds a professional record of 43-2-1 with 42 knockouts. As for when Wilder will return to action, he is expected to be the next opponent for Anthony Joshua at some point in 2023.
