G-Unit rapper Tony Yayo has come to the defense of LSU basketball star Angel Reese, who caught plenty of backlash after the national championship game for taunting Iowa’s Caitlin Clark, the National Player of the Year.

Reese used Yayo’s gesture that inspired the popular “You Can’t See Me” celebration by WWE star John Cena, and the rapper says the backlash she received shows a double standard.

“When a Black girl do it, it’s a problem, but when a white girl do it, it’s not a problem,” Yayo told TMZ Sports.

“You got Lil Wayne calling her phone. You got Boosie excited over LSU. This championship was big. Everybody knows who Angel Reese is now, as well as Caitlin Clark.”

“I just don’t want all this stuff to overshadow the win,” Yayo added. “There are other people on the team. There’s a great coach [Kim Mulkey] over there. I’m definitely looking up to anybody that’s a role model to Black women in this world.”

Yayo also says he is not upset that people credit Cena for the celebration, even though Reese said she was paying homage to Yayo while discussing her decision to use the gesture.

After going on a celebration tour and a brief controversy involving First Lady Jill Biden, Reese and the Lady Tigers will be making a trip to the White House in the following weeks to be honored for their historic win.
