The NASCAR Cup Series is in Fontana this weekend for the Pala Casino 400 at Auto Club Speedway in California. The race, which is the second race of the Cup Series season, is sponsored by Pala Casino Resort and Spa.
It’s been a tough weekend in Fontana with inclement weather forcing NASCAR to cancel all events on Saturday, including qualifying.
Because qualifying for the race was canceled, Christopher Bell was awarded the pole position thanks to NASCAR’s qualifying metric. The metric accounts for a driver’s finish and fastest lap in the previous race as well as owner’s points.
Bell will be joined on the front row by Daytona 500 winner Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
The Pala Casino 400 — is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX — is 200 laps around the 2-mile Auto Club Speedway. It will be broken into three segments, with Stage 1 and Stage 2 featuring 60 laps a piece, while Stage 3 includes the final 80 laps of the race.
