The 2022 Dubai Open, also known as the Dubai Tennis Championships and Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, wraps up on Saturday with the championship match at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The tournament is a WTA 1000 event.
In the final, No. 1 seed Iga Świątek will look to continue her impressive run in Dubai when she takes on Barbora Krejčíková, who has scored upset after upset en route to the final.
The two last faced off in October 2022 in the final of the Ostrava Open in Krejčíková’s home country of the Czech Republic, and Krejčíková did the unthinkable by beating Świątek in a final. She will be looking to repeat that magic on Saturday morning.
The 21-year-old Świątek punched her ticket to the final by defeating American Coco Gauff, who was the No. 5 seed in the tournament, in the semifinals. The only other ranked opponent Świątek faced on her run to the championship match was No. 14 seed Liudmila Samsonova.
Krejčíková, meanwhile, faced a gauntlet on her way to the final, upsetting No. 3 Jessica Pegula in the semifinal, No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinal, No. 12 Petra Kvitova in the Round of 16, and No. 7 Daria Kasatkina in the Round of 32.
Entering Saturday’s final, Świątek is a heavy -900 favorite over Krejčíková (+550) with the over/under set for 18.5 total games.
The action will air on the Tennis Channel and stream live on Tennis Channel Plus.
