Jessica Andrade is opening up about her UFC Vegas 69 loss to Erin Blanchfield, saying she “lost focus” because of a wardrobe malfunction.
In a recent interview with Ag Fight, Andrade said that her “breast completely slipped out” during a takedown from Blanchfield. The former strawweight champion said that caused her to forget to counter which led to a crucial takedown that ultimately led to the fight-ending rear-naked choke in the second round.
“This is not an excuse, but when she came for the takedown, I lost focus. Because when she moved in, she put her shoulder just under my top and my breast completely slipped out. I lost focus and forgot to counter,” Andrade said. “All I could think of was my breast. When I used my hand to put my breast back in the top, that’s when she was able to take me down. It’s all part of the game, though. It’s not an excuse. She really had a great gameplan. It wasn’t on purpose.

“We have to be ready for everything. I should’ve been prepared to let my breast be out if it slipped out. It has been shown in so many places before. I shouldn’t even be worried about that.”
While “Bate Estaca” is not using the wardrobe malfunction as an excuse, it’s clear that it had a big impact on the fight-ending sequence.
With the loss, Andrade snapped a three-fight winning streak to fall to 24-10. Blanchfield, meanwhile, continues to be one of the top prospects at 125-pounds and improved her record to 11-1.
