Michigan Basketball Team Honors Michigan State Shooting Victims (VIDEO)

The Michigan men’s basketball team put the rivalry aside ahead of tip-off against the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday.

Prior to the game at Michigan’s Crisler Center, the Wolverines paid tribute to the victims of the tragic mass shooting at Michigan State University last week which left four people dead and five others wounded.

“Please join us in a moment of silence in recognition of this week’s horrific tragedy at Michigan State University,” the PA announcer said. On behalf of the University of Michigan, we share our condolences for the lives lost, those critically injured, and everyone impacted in the Spartan community.”

The tribute included a moment of silence and the Michigan band playing Michigan State’s alma mater, “MSU Shadows.”

It was an incredible, emotional scene ahead of the game and brought everyone together for a special moment that was much bigger, and more important than the game.

The game was Michigan State’s first game since the shooting.
