Sunday marks the 65th running of the Daytona 500, also known as The Great American Race.
Today’s race kicks off a new season of competition as NASCAR’s top drivers look to get off to a hot start and begin positioning themselves for the Chase For The Cup right out of the gate by hoisting the Harley J. Earl Trophy in victory lane.
The Daytona 500 preshow kicks off at 1:00 p.m. ET, while the green flag is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
Alex Bowman will start at the pole, making it the sixth consecutive year he has started on the front row, while his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson will be sitting alongside him. Row 2 will feature reigning Cup Series champion Joey Logano and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Aric Almirola.
The Daytona 500 is 200 laps around the 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway. It will be broken into three segments, with Stage 1 featuring 65 laps, Stage 2 featuring 65 laps, and Stage 3 including the final 70 laps of the race.
