The 2023 Australian Open wraps up this weekend at Melbourne Park. In the first Grand Slam final of the season, the women’s singles championship match will be up first.
The championship match will be held on the court at Rod Laver Arena.
Taking the court and looking for the Grand Slam victory will be No. 22 seed Elena Rybakina, who represents Kazakhstan, and Russia’s Aryna Sabalenka, the No. 5 seed in the tournament.
Rybakina fought her way to the final with four consecutive wins over seeded opponents, including No. 1 Iga Swiatek, who she defeated in straight sets. Rybakina also picked up big wins over No. 13 Danielle Collins, No. 17 Jelena Ostapenko in the quarterfinal, and No. 24 Victoria Azarenka in the semifinal.
Sabalenka, meanwhile, defeated just two seeded opponents in No. 12 Belinda Bencic and Belgium’s Elise Mertens, the No. 26 seed.
Entering the match, Sabalenka is a slight -135 favorite, while Rybakina is listed at +105.
