Aaron Judge made a lot of people in New York happy when he re-signed with the Yankees this offseason on a whopping 9-year, $360 million deal.

But while the fans are ecstatic that Judge will be staying in the Bronx, Judge and his furry friend may be the happiest.

While speaking about his offseason decision during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night, Judge gave some credit to teammate Anthony Rizzo’s dog for his decision to re-sign with the Yanks.

Judge said that he and Rizzo’s dogs — Penny and Kevin — are “best friends,” and Rizzo was texting him pictures of his dog every day.

“He went for my heart. My little Penny and his dog, Kevin, are the best of friends. This is what I had to deal with,'” Judge said. “Every day, I was getting photos like this.”

Well played, Rizzo.

In the end, Judge got his big pay day and was named the 16th captain in Yankees history. Oh, and Penny and Kevin get to continue their friendship up close and personal. It’s a big W all around.
