Before you decide to join me on this fantastic voyage of betting advice, there’s something you need to know. If you follow me for any betting advice, then you’re basically buying the book “Betting For Morons” I have no experience chasing the betting high, but I do love watching folks live and die by the Moneyline.

I’ve decided to purify myself in the cool waters of college basketball betting advice. Everyone’s betting legacy has to start somewhere, right? Buckle up, and let’s enjoy the ride. Here are the five bets you should cash in on for college basketball’s January 17th slate.

5. Kent State Moneyline

Not only does Kent State own one of the best nicknames in college sports, but the Golden Flashes also own one of the longest current winning streaks at eight games. Kent State should roll Eastern Michigan tonight. Making the -1200 Moneyline the easiest cash you will win tonight.

According to Odd Shark, the Golden Flashes are 11-0 as betting favorites, and I don’t expect tonight to be the blemish on their permanent record. Kent State could be a name to look out for when the brackets are announced in March.

4. Tennessee Moneyline, (-6.5) Spread

It’s probably not a good day to be in the Mississippi State basketball program. Tennessee got knocked back down to reality this past Saturday, losing to their hate rival Kentucky at home. There’s no question the Volunteers will be ready to take out some frustrations on the Bulldogs tonight.

I expect the Volunteers to win and win easily. Hammering the -265 Moneyline and the -6.5 point spread feels like easy money for a betting dummy like myself. Tennessee has only played three road games this season, but is playing a game in Starkville that hostile? (As a Kentucky fan, I want you to win Miss. St. I’m basically the Pete Rose of gambling. I’ll always choose my team over the bet.)

3. North Carolina Moneyline

The Tar Heels are big favorites tonight against Boston College. The spread opened for the Tar Heels as 17-point favorites but has dwindled to its current odds at 14. UNC is undefeated at home, and with a less superior opponent coming to the Dean Dome, I don’t see any other outcome.

UNC ML (Moneyline for you less educated gamblers) is free money.

2. Tulane +10.5 Spread

You wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts! Scared money don’t make money! Is that enough pump-up quotes to get you to believe in this bet? Sometimes you have to take a risk for a bigger reward. I don’t expect Houston to cover tonight against the Green Waves.

Houston has yet to lose a conference game, and I don’t expect it to start tonight. However, something about this game tonight has me believing in Tulane. No, I’m not getting the basketball program confused with the football program. I think Tulane keeps this one closer than the experts believe.

1. Alabama vs. Vanderbilt Under 155

Did Alabama drop over 100 points last Saturday, and did Vandy score 97 in an upset over Arkansas as well? Sure they did. But today is a new day. The last thing on Alabama’s mind coming into this one is basketball, with the recent legal issues with Darius Miles.

Vanderbilt’s last five games have hit the over, which could make this bet shaky. I feel the outside noise of what is happening within the Alabama program, and Vandy being Vandy, I could see this game giving us an ugly offensive performance from both sides. To me, the under is a safe bet.
