The United States fought to a scoreless draw against England in their second match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and their attention now turns to the final group stage match against Iran.
Because of the draw against England and Iran’s impressive 2-0 upset of Wales, the United States is in control of its own destiny. In order to advance out of Group B, the United States must get a win over Iran to earn three points. If the game ends in a loss for the USMNT or a draw, the USA would be sent home packing.
In anticipation of the do-or-die game for Team USA, the oddsmakers released the opening odds for next week’s game — which takes place at Al Thumama Stadium in Al Thumama, Qatar on Tuesday, November 29 at 2:00 p.m. ET.
When the opening odds were released by BetMGM, the United States was a slight -117 favorite and Iran was a +330 underdog.
The odds mean you would need to wager $117 on the United States for a $100 return, while a $100 wager on Iran would land you $330. The odds for a draw opened at +275.
So will the USMNT be able to pull out the win and advance to the knockout stage of the tournament? We will find out in a matter of days.
