Conor McGregor is being sued by a longtime friend who claims the former UFC champion screwed him out of millions over Proper 12 Whiskey.
Artem Lobov, a former UFC fighter and boxer who was often seen right by McGregor’s side, filed the lawsuit alleging he was promised 5 percent of the Proper 12 Whiskey brand after being the mastermind behind it. Unfortunately for Lobov, when the brand was sold for $600 million he received nothing.
“My client is a retired professional fighter with a master’s degree from DCU in Finance and Capital Markets,” Lobov’s attorney Dermot McNamara said in a statement, via TMZ Sports. “We have issued High Court proceedings on his behalf to enforce an agreement with Mr. McGregor regarding the Proper No. Twelve whiskey brand.“My client was the initial creator and co-founder of the concept to launch an Irish whiskey brand associated with Mr. McGregor.”A spokesperson for McGregor adamantly denied the claims.
“Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey was created, developed, branded and tirelessly promoted by Conor McGregor,” Karen J. Kessler said in a statement. “Any suggestion that the plaintiff has a claim to Proper No. Twelve is incorrect.”McGregor reportedly received $150 million for his shares in the company.
