The 2022 Guadalajara Open continues this week at Panamerican Tennis Center in Mexico. With the tournament winding down, the women’s singles semifinals will be held on Saturday leading up to Sunday evening’s final.
Every match from the semifinals through the championship will be held on the Akron Tennis Stadium court.
The highest remaining seed in the field is American Jessica Pegula, the daughter of Buffalo Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula. The 28-year-old punched her ticket to the semifinals with wins over Elena Rybakina, Bianca Andreescu, and Sloane Stephens. Pegula will be facing Victoria Azarenka, who upset No. 5 seed Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals to earn her spot.
In the nightcap, No. 4 seed Maria Sakkari will look to earn her spot in the final after a tough run in Guadalajara that has included wins over No. 8 Veronika Kudermetova and No. 14 Danielle Collins. She will look to avoid being upset by Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic.
