We are less than one month from the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but in the early hours of the morning on Saturday, October 22, it was the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup that was the focus of the soccer world.
The Women’s World Cup draw was held on Saturday morning and we now know which countries will face off against each other in the group stage.
For the United States, the draw landed them in Group E along with Vietnam, the Netherlands, and the Group A Play-off winner.
Group B, meanwhile, is the dreaded Group of Death. Unfortunately for Australia, one of the co-hosts of the tournament, they were drawn into the group with Ireland, Nigeria, and reigning Olympic champions Canada. It will be a tough task for Matildas to escape the Group Stage in front of their home fans.
The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand, marking the first time that the tournament will have two host nations. The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will begin on July 20, 2023, and run through August 20, 2023. The Women’s World Cup Final will be held at Stadium Australia in Sydney.
